THX DEBUTS SCIENCE, THE NEWEST THEATRICAL TRAILER FOR THX CERTIFIED VENUES AND PRODUCTS

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., May 11, 2005 - THX Ltd., the leading provider of technologies, certification programs and quality assurance standards for the entertainment industry, today announced the release of SCIENCE, the company’s newest theatrical trailer for THX Certified Cinemas, DVDs and Games. A team of acclaimed sound and visual artists from the filmmaking community produced SCIENCE, the 11th THX trailer created since the company was founded in 1983. The SCIENCE trailer is currently being distributed to THX Certified Cinemas, just in time for the summer blockbuster movie releases, and will also begin to appear on THX Certified DVDs and Games this fall.

The SCIENCE trailer gets its name from THX’s new brand strategy, “The Science of Sensation,” which builds on the THX principles of using scientific innovation to create technologies that provide sensational movie, music and video game experiences.

“The THX trailers are adored by moviegoers, home theater audiences, and gamers around the world. They help us connect with consumers and provide our partners an entertaining way to commemorate their efforts in achieving THX certification,” said Michael Franzi, chief marketing officer at THX. “The SCIENCE trailer will help THX communicate the value of its technologies and certification programs, while priming entertainment audiences for high quality audio and visual presentations.”

For the first time in more than 20 years, the SCIENCE trailer features the complete, original THX “Deep Note™”, an audio mark that has become synonymous with the THX brand. In THX Certified Cinemas, “Deep Note” is used to display the power of the auditorium’s acoustics, surround sound system and visual presentation. On THX Certified DVDs and Games, it provides consumers with an immersive demonstration of their home entertainment system. The audio for “Deep Note” begins in the front channel and then encircles the audience, as it erupts into a final crescendo —providing a truly enveloping experience.
