Wakefield, Mass. \u2014 January 2, 2025<\/em> \u2014 The Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia)<\/a> today announced that THX, Ltd.,<\/a> a world-class high-fidelity audio and video tuning, certification, and technology company and producer of the iconic THX Deep Note Trailers<\/a>, has joined the Alliance. As a member of AOMedia, THX will collaborate with the Alliance\u2019s community of internet and media technology member companies<\/a> to drive open standards for cutting-edge<\/a> video, audio, and multimedia advancements worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THX audio and video technology experts will contribute to advancing the development and adoption of high-performance video codecs, including AV1, which enables high-quality video streaming without costly licensing fees. THX will also aid AOMedia\u2019s efforts in creating open audio codecs that deliver high-quality sound for modern multimedia applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THX efforts will help AOMedia explore new use cases, technical advancements, and adoption strategies that promote a more open media ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
