THX Video Calibration I is an introductory course for the beginning calibrator. While geared towards those just starting their TV calibration profession, Cal I is also an excellent refresher on the latest features and technologies of TVs and projectors. Topics include the benefits of TV calibration, technology and terms, what makes a good image, and the basics of TV setup. This one-day course, or an equivalent calibration class, is required for Video Calibration II. Successful graduates will achieve the title of “THX Certified Professional” and will be listed in the THX directory of Certified Professionals.
Video Calibration I is $599 and runs all day Sunday, September 11th.
THX Video Calibration II is an advanced course for those looking to professionally calibrate TVs and projectors. By the end of Cal II, every participant will have calibrated a TV, and have the confidence they’ll be able to do it again… and be able to charge for it! The process of calibration is covered in detail, with hands-on training. Other topics include, in-depth look at the different display technologies, processing issues, like scaling and de-interlacing, color standards, 3DTV science, and the business of TV calibration (including customer management). Successful graduates of this two-day course achieve the title of “THX Certified Professional Calibrator” and access to a private calibrator forum on the THX website, along with other THX marketing and online services.
Video Calibration II is all day Monday (9/12) and Tuesday (9/13) and is $1,599.
THX Home Theater Level I is an elaborate, entry-level, one-day course designed to help you better assist customers with gear selection and system setup. Topics include, noise control and room isolation, room acoustics including room nodes and reflections, audio and video system setup, plus the history and mission of THX. Attendees will receive a comprehensive course book, a THX course completion certificate, and more.
Home Theater Professional Workshop I is all day Sunday, September 11th and costs $500.
THX Home Theater Level II offers an extensive, in-depth course on essential aspects of home theater design. Topics covered include, room design, absorption and diffusion, calibration and equalization, component selection, speaker placement, light control, projection and screens, and whole home audio/video and control. The two-day course is made up of interactive exercises using cutting-edge equipment. Beyond the coursework, many graduates find being able to discuss real-world scenarios with storied THX technicians as invaluable.
Workshop II is all day Monday (9/12) and Tuesday (9/13) and is $1,200.
Because they run concurrently, participants in the Video Calibration workshop cannot participate in the Home Theater workshop, and vice versa.
