THX AND CENTURY THEATRES BRING 16 NEW THX CERTIFIED CINEMA SCREENS TO LAS VEGAS

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. and LAS VEGAS, May 4, 2005 - Just in time for the summer blockbusters, THX Ltd. today announced that the new Century 16 Santa Fe Station cinema in Las Vegas has achieved THX Certification on all 16 screens. This newest Century Theatre has been designed to meet the THX performance standards for sound and picture excellence, ensuring Las Vegas residents experience every bit of the dialogue, sound and visual effects in this summer’s highly anticipated movie releases. The Century 16 Santa Fe Station, which is located in northwest Las Vegas, opens to the public on May 13.

"This summer is shaping up to be an exciting time to visit the cinema. The Century 16 Santa Fe Station’s opening is well timed, as this cinema will be ideal for Las Vegas residents to experience some thrilling motion picture releases," said Michael Franzi, chief marketing officer at THX. "Century Theatres has always been committed to providing moviegoers the best possible entertainment experience, which includes incorporating THX Certification into every cinema auditorium. We are thrilled to be working with them to bring yet another All-THX Certified Cinema to the Las Vegas community."

THX worked closely with Century Theatres’ design engineers to create a cinema environment that presents the true artistic vision of filmmakers to moviegoers. Every detail in these cinema auditoriums, from acoustics to audience viewing angles and on-screen lighting, has been designed to the rigid THX quality standards. The result? Century Theatre movie audiences will always experience crisp sounds, clear dialogue and high-impact visuals. In addition, they will never be distracted by noise from adjacent cinema auditoriums, street traffic or even cinema air conditioning systems, because the THX Certified Cinema environment has been designed to eliminate background and exterior noise. Later this year, Century will open additional All-THX Certified Cinemas in the western U.S., including another Las Vegas location.

"THX Certification represents excellence in the cinema and filmmaking industries, and is a critical element to the design of our theatres," said Nancy Klasky, vice president of marketing for Century Theatres. "THX Certification delivers a consistent, high quality sound and visual presentation that helps us differentiate ourselves from competitors and build customer loyalty in the community."
