NEW THX CERTIFIED GAMES ADDED IN 2004

The List Includes Multiple Titles from EA

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. and LAS VEGAS, Nev., January 7, 2005 - THX Ltd. wrapped the year with 9 new games from Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) incorporating THX Certification. The list includes some of last year’s most popular titles from the EA GAMES™ and EA SPORTS™ brands, such as Need for Speed™ Underground 2, NFL STREET 2, and The Lord of the Rings™: The Third Age™. Since creating the audio and visual standards for video games in September 2003, more than 13 THX Certified titles have been developed and published by EA. This year, the two companies will work together on additional titles, including the highly anticipated NBA STREET V3, which is scheduled for a February release.

The THX Certified Games program provides game developers and publishers with the ultimate environment to create audio and visual content. The program includes specifications for the way EA’s production studios are set up and maintained during the critical stages of a game’s development. Optimizing these production environments ensures that game soundtracks, color palettes and visual effects are accurately translated from the studio to the gaming console, helping gamers experience EA’s true vision for the game.

“The work we’ve done with the sound and visual effects teams at EA has helped raise the bar for game production, improving how game content is created in the studio, then presented to gamers at home,” said Mark Tuffy, games system director at THX. “THX is thrilled to have played a part in delivering some truly groundbreaking audio and visual presentations from EA’s developers, and we look forward to working together on future titles.”

The THX Certified Games program is complemented by the company’s work in the consumer electronics industry. For more than a decade, THX has provided electronics manufacturers with standards and technologies for improving the design and performance of home entertainment products. While gamers are not required to have THX Certified products to enjoy the benefits of THX Certified Games, those who have home theater systems with surround sound capabilities, THX Ultra2™, Select2™ certifications and Games Mode technologies will enjoy a more enveloping experience.
