Job Purpose:

The individual in this position will be responsible for configuring, troubleshooting, and managing our network and security infrastructure. This requires an individual with a wide range of skills including: systems administration for Windows, Mac and Linux systems, network administration, firewall management, email infrastructure, hardware specification, hardware installation, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and prioritize service and support efforts for employees, contractors and external vendors in order to deliver the desired level of service to our end users
  • Maintain Company’s hardware, software and procedural standards and ensure those standards are followed
  • Effectively communicate day-to-day support activities with key business users and managers
  • Manage and maintain network in our Northern California facility and other offices
  • Monitor the I.T. infrastructure to ensure security and stability and make recommendations to the Director of Information Technology as needed
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skills requirements:

  • 3 -5 years experience in Information Technologies and Computer & Network support both onsite / In person and remotely via phone or web sharing
  • Broad knowledge of Windows /Mac / Linux server and desktop operating systems, MS Office Suites 2003 – 2010, Active Directory, security permissions, Exchange, SharePoint, BPOS, and VPN services
  • Practical hands on experience with networking devices (switches, firewalls, routers, and wireless), mobile devices (laptops, Blackberry, Palm, iPhones)
  • 2 -3 years hands on experience with backup hardware and software , and firewall configurations
  • Thorough understanding of DNS, WINS, TCP/IP, MS IIS, VPN, VALNs, Outlook Web Access, SSL, and Proxy services
  • Experienced with the creation and updating of documentation, technical writing, for instructional purposes
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels
  • A demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
  • A strong sense of accountability and solid organizational skills
  • A proven ability to perform quality work against deadlines
  • Willingness to work after-hours and/or on weekends as required
  • A team player who is willing to take direction as well as work on issues and projects on their own

Extra points for:

  • Experience with server restoration from backup to virtual machine using shadow protect or Acronis TrueImage
  • Computer imaging and deployment technology experience
  • Symantec or other Antivirus software, malware/spyware removal experience
  • End user classroom style software and hardware training
  • Asset management and software licensing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and recommend logical solutions to complex business problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and business objectives

This is a non-exempt position with overtime and work on weekends as required and occasional on Call duties. Travel 10%. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to sit for long periods.
